The DePauw Womens Golf team competed in the NCAC (North Coast Athletic Conference) Championship this past weekend. The championship is a three-day, 54-hole tournament which was played at the par-70 “North Course” at Westfield Country Club in northeastern Ohio. Five teams (DePauw University, Dension University, College of Wooster, Wittenberg University, and Ohio Wesleyan University) comprising 25 individual golfers attended.
DePauw as a team finished 2nd by 13 strokes to 30th ranked Denison University with a combined score of 914 including a tournament low combined 295 for day two (Denison also shot 295 on day one).
My daughter, Becky, was individual medalist with a combined 3-round score of 210 (69-64-77). Her second-round 6-under score of 64 included 2 “eagles” (one being her first-ever hole-in-one on the par-3 hole 11 with the other on the par-5 hole 16), 3 “birdies”, 12 “pars”, and only one “bogey”. Her score of -6 sets a DePauw Womens Golf record for lowest single round ever recorded.
At the awards ceremony, Becky was also given the 2024 NCAC Women’s Golfer of the Year award by vote of the league coaches.
