2025 GolfWeek October Classic

The DePauw Women’s Golf team traveled to Sandestin, FL for the 2025 GolfWeek October Classic. This tournament hosted 24 D3 Women’s Golf teams and 120 individual players at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort’s par 72 Links course. This course is in a beautiful location with several holes on the shores of Choctawhatchee Bay.

This was a 3-round tournament, which is not typical for college golf. My daughter, Becky, shot a respectable 71-73-79 to claim a T11 individual finish. The 3rd day she struggled the whole day and just never really put it all together; it’s been a while since she’s shot a score approaching 80.

The DePauw team did quite well even with one of their players having to sit out the first two rounds due to an injury. With this quality of competition, a 7th place is a great follow-up to their 7th place showing at the 2025 Carnegie Mellon Tartan Invitational.

Semi-humorous note: if you look closely at some of the photos, you might notice what at first glance looks like a photo artifact or some kind of strange aircraft (Eglin Air Force Base is on the other side of the bay and military jets flew over the course on a regular basis). These are mostly dragonflies which were quite common around the course. The “featured image” for instance has one just above and to the left of Becky’s head.
