The DePauw University Women’s Golf team competed in the 2025 Illinois Wesleyan University’s Fall Classic this past weekend. My daughter, Becky, struggled some on the first day of play after 4-putting the 13th hole for a double-bogey (this tournament was a “shotgun” start and Becky started on the 11th tee so the 13th hole was her 3rd hole of the day). The rest of the day was something of a “roller coaster” with bogeys and birdies interspersed with a few pars. Becky ended the day E and in a four-way tie for 2nd place. Becky’s teammate, Daisy Williams (no relation), led with an impressive -1.
The second day of play initially began well with two pars but then Becky 4-putted another hole for a double-bogey. She would bogey two more holes before catching fire and either putting up a birdie or par for the next 13 holes (-9 over that stretch) to finish with a -5 for the day and winning the tournament by 5 strokes over her teammate Daisy Williams. The DePauw team came just short of winning the tournament, falling just 3 strokes behind host Illinois Wesleyan.
Becky’s round of 67 (-5) and back nine of 29 (-7) are both course records for the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic tournament.
