Alaska — Healy

Healy is a small town just north-east of Denali National Park. The only road into Denali National Park is just south of Healy. While we were here we took the “National History Tour” bus tour into Denali National Park. This tour goes 17 miles into Denali National Park (slightly further than you can go with a personal vehicle). The tour includes a visit to the historic Savage Cabin and ends with a view of Denali from Primrose Ridge (if it isn’t shrouded in clouds, that is). Also at Primrose Ridge, a Native American talk gives perspective on life in the region before the arrival of the white man.

On the park road we saw Moose, Black Billed Magpie, and mountain Lupine.

On the final leg of the trip to Fairbanks, we made a quick stop at Tatlanika Trading Co on the Nenana River. Scattered around the grounds are several old and interesting vehicles:
