The 2026 North Coast Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championship was held May 1-3, 2026 at the Squaw Creek Golf Course of the Avalon Golf & Country Club in Warren, OH. This is a beautiful golf course; unfortunately, the weather for the tournament was less than “beautiful”. Rounds were called off on Friday due to excessive rain and when play resumed on Saturday morning players were greeted with temperatures in the 30s, gusting wind, rain, sleet, and snow (check out photo #4 for evidence of the snow). Pretty miserable…
Unfortunately, my daughter Becky had a tough start putting up an 82 for her first round including a double- and triple-bogey. She showed a ton of tenacity and resilience though and followed that disappointing round up with two rounds of 75. Her 75 on Sunday was the best score put up by any golfer that day. She finished with a 82-75-75 (232) good for T3. Toss out the double- and triple-bogeys from Saturdays snow and sleet filled morning play and she would have won the tournament. The DePauw team also struggled with conditions and wound up in 3rd place and just one stroke behind perennial rival Denison University and newcomer Kenyon College.
Becky was included in the 2026 NCAC Women’s Golf All Tournament Team.
Becky will need to wait for an individual bid to the NCAA D3 Women’s Golf National Championship which will be announced on May 11th. Ranked as the 23rd best player in NCAA Women’s Golf, she should have a good chance.
