2026 IU Indy Lady Jaguar Invitational

DePauw University again attended the 2026 IU Indy Lady Jaguar Invitational as the only D3 team competing against three other D1 teams (IU Indy, Marian University, and Butler University). This year’s tournament was moved from Plum Creek Golf Club to The Trophy Club for unknown reasons (The Trophy Club is a fine golf course that has hosted the Yestingsmeier Cup on multiple occasions).

For the 2nd straight year my daughter Becky was the individual medalist. This year’s tournament was held in particularly challenging conditions of 20-25 mph winds, intermittent rain, and with temperatures in the low 50s. Becky and Butler’s Cybil Stillson both shot scores of +4 forcing a playoff (Becky had played with Cybil several times in high school). Becky had been in the clubhouse for a good hour while Cybil went straight from the 18th to the first playoff hole (hole #1).

Becky and Cybil gridlocked on the first two playoff holes going into the third hole, the par-4 #12. Cybil had hit her approach shot short, while Becky hit an amazing approach shot with the ball below her feet off a large mound on the left side of the fairway. Too short and she would be in a bunker; too long and she would be in the water. She put it on the green!

Becky calmly finished the hole with two putts and Cybil was unable to match.
